Given the relative unreliability of the PEPS dataset, we elected to independently verify the addresses of community and technical college locations (main campuses, branch campuses, and satellite locations). We reviewed the websites of each state’s community and technical college systems, adding any institutions that were not present in our sample from PEPS. If the state or system website listed the addresses of branch campuses and satellite locations, location names and addresses were verified via the state or system website. If such a directory was not available, we used the state or system website to navigate to each individual institution’s website and confirmed the location names and addresses of each location listed on the college’s website, making corrections or additions to our database as necessary. We also opted to exclude locations that are high schools at this stage. High schools appear to be reported in PEPS very inconsistently across institutions, and in many instances we could not determine with certainty whether these locations offered only dual enrollment programs for current high school students or whether they are more broadly accessible to adult postsecondary students.
